When custom software makes sense

Many companies run critical processes in Excel sheets, email and several disconnected tools. That works – until errors, double data entry and missing overview start costing time and money. Custom software maps your exact process in one system, connects existing tools and gives everyone the same, current data.

Custom does not mean starting from zero: we combine proven frameworks, open-source modules and standard products (for example SAP or Microsoft 365) with tailored parts only where they create value.

Build, buy or extend?

We are honest about it: sometimes a standard product is the better choice. This is how we decide together.

OptionChoose when…Example
Buy standard softwareYour process is standard and the product fits ≥ 80%Accounting software, Microsoft 365
Extend / integrateA standard product fits, but needs connections or add-onsSAP BTP extension, Shopify ↔ ERP sync
Build customYour process is your competitive advantage or no product fitsProduction planning for a special manufacturing process
Low-codeSimple internal apps, quick winsPower Apps, approval flows

Our software development lifecycle

  1. Process analysisWe observe how work is really done today, interview users and collect documents, spreadsheets and pain points.Deliverables: as-is process map, pain-point list
  2. Requirements & target processWe design the to-be process and write user stories with acceptance criteria, prioritised as MVP and later phases.Deliverables: requirements specification, MVP scope
  3. Architecture & data modelSystem architecture, data model, roles and permissions, integrations, security and hosting concept.Deliverables: architecture document, fixed quote
  4. UX prototypeClickable prototype of the main screens, tested with real users before development.Deliverables: validated prototype
  5. Iterative developmentTwo-week sprints with demos on a test system; you see progress continuously and can adjust priorities.Deliverables: working increments
  6. Data migrationClean-up and migration of data from Excel or legacy systems, with test migrations and validation.Deliverables: migration scripts, validated data
  7. Testing & acceptanceAutomated tests, integration tests, user acceptance tests (UAT) with your key users.Deliverables: UAT sign-off
  8. Rollout & trainingGo-live plan, user training, documentation and hypercare support during the first weeks.Deliverables: live system, manuals, trained users
  9. Operations & evolutionMonitoring, backups, security updates and continuous feature development.Deliverables: support SLA, roadmap

Frequently asked questions

Do we own the software?

Yes. You receive the source code, documentation and full rights to use and change it.

Can you connect our new system to SAP or DATEV?

Yes. We regularly integrate with SAP (OData, RFC/BAPI, IDoc), DATEV exports, Microsoft 365, shops and banking interfaces.

Cloud or on-premise?

Both. We recommend based on data sensitivity, existing IT and budget, and can host in Germany.

How do you avoid a failed IT project?

Small MVP first, two-week demos, clear acceptance criteria and early involvement of real users. You always see what you pay for.

You name IT. We make IT.
